Cannabis

Cannabis, also known as marijuana or ganja, is a tall plant that grows mainly in tropical areas. Cannabis includes three subspecies: sativa, indica and ruderalis. Cannabis plant produces chemicals called cannabinoids. The most active is THC, which is known for its mental and physical effects. Cannabis is used by millions of people all over the world for recreational or medical use. Cannabis is smoked either from the pipes and water bongs or as a rolled cigarette called joint and is usually used in three forms:

• marijuana - made from dried flowers and leaves and is smoked
• hashish - made from the resin of the plant and is either smoked or added to the food
• hash oil - thick oil obtained from hashish.

Cannabis sativa

Cannabis sativa, also known as hemp, is the most common cannabis species. It is used mainly for the hemp fibre, which has wide use in textil industry. Hemp seeds are rich in proteins, healthy fats and various minerals.

Cannabis indica

Cannabis indica is another famous cannabis species. The plant is smaller than sativa. Cannabis indica is tradionally cultivated for the production of hashish. Indica is well known for its sedative effects while sativa to "get you high".

Cannabis ruderalis

Cannabis ruderalis is originated from Russia. It is less common and contains less of THC than the other species. It is used as a medicine, especially for treating depressions.
