THC

Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, Δ9-THC, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), Δ¹-tetrahydrocannabinol (using an older numbering scheme), or dronabinol, is the main psychoactive substance found in the Cannabis plant. THC affects the memory, thinking, movements, coordination and concentration. THC is found in the resin secreted by glands of the plant.

THC effects

The effects kick in 10 to 30 minutes after use and last about 2 hours. THC stimulates cells in the brain and creates euforia. THC can also induce hallucinations and cause delusions. Some of the short effects are: changes in mood, impaired memories and body movement. Between long terms effects belongs loss of few IQ points /this was proved with smokers who started smoking in their teens/. Other effects which can occure are: increased heart rate, breathing problems.

THC contained in cannabis

All different cannabis strains contain different ammount of THC. Some strains can have 0.3 percent of THC, while another one around 20%. The higher level of THC, the faster and stronger the effects are. THC gets quite quickly to the bloodstream. Type of cannabis with the level of THC as low as 0.5 percent is called hemp and is used for medical purposes.
